The continued symbolic presence of the British Crown in the constitutional makeup of the Jamaican state (and other Commonwealth Caribbean realm countries) has been repeatedly placed on reform agendas. In the six decades since the enactment of the Independence Constitution of Jamaica in 1962, there have been two noteworthy reform periods - the 1970s, and the 1990s up to 2015.
